Download the Firmware
- Visit this page and download the fastboot ROM for your device (Please check if the ROM file suffix is ‘.tgz’. If it is ‘.gz’, please rename it to ‘.tgz’)
- Once the ROM is downloaded, extract the files on your desktop and it will look something like this
Download Fastboot Mi Flash Tool
- Download and install MI Flash tool on your laptop/computer
STEP 1: Switch off your Xiaomi smartphone and boot it into fastboot mode.
- Press the Volume key and the Power button at the same time to enter Fastboot mode.
STEP 2: Connect your smartphone to the USB cable and open the MI Flash tool on your laptop/computer
STEP 3: Now open MI Flash and select the folder where you have extracted the firmware
STEP 4: Click on Refresh. Your device will appear in Mi Flash Tool window if it is connected.
STEP 5: Now you will see three options at the bottom of the Flash tool.
Choose any one option carefully as per your need
- Flash all: Clears all the data of the built-in storage, clear all user data, please be careful! (Clean Install)
- Flash all except storage: Will erase all user data does not clear the built-in storage data.
- Flash all except data storage: Does not clear the built-in storage data does not clear user data
STEP 6: Click on Flash and it will start the process. Once flashing process completes, the progress bar inside MiFlash turns fully green, which means the ROM has been successfully installed. Then your device should automatically boot to the new version.
