Samsung to launch smartphone with under-the-display front camera- Report

Samsung is prepping to introduce a smartphone following year with an in-display front shooter, as per a few media reports.

The firm will be using a similar technique which it has already applied to Galaxy Note 10 and S10 phones, where the display features a hole at the top for the selfie camera, says a report by The Elec.

Samsung plans on incorporating a transparent display rather than a hole which will be positioned atop the front shooter, as per the report.

Samsung Display, a key supplier of the OLED display panel for Samsung smartphones, is reportedly in works of installing designated equipment, called HIAA2 in one of its factories. HIAA2 will particularly be focused on developing the in-display innovation from the following month, said the report.

The HIAA (hole-in-active-area) equipment uses lasers in order to make the hole in the display. Currently, HIAA1 is being used to develop a hole in displays that were commercialized earlier by Samsung this year.

Samsung will be applying the new tech likely in the Galaxy S10 or successor model of Galaxy Fold, added the report.

Meanwhile, Samsung’s profits fell by 56% overall for Q3 than compared to the previous year. However, it is expected that the firm’s mobile business will return back to its shape in spite of low results, thanks to Galaxy Note 10.
